The Roll Tender/Sanitation role is responsible for operation of roller mills, knowledge of bearings, belts, pulleys, etc. while also ensuring the mill area and equipment are clean and sanitary according to company and industry standards. This dual role supports both efficient flour mill operations and compliance with hygiene and safety regulations.

Assist with roll setup, maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
Monitor material supply and ensure efficient machine operation.
Must possess excellent housekeeping habits keeping the assigned work area clean at all times and ensure that assigned HACCP and GHP requirements are monitored, documented and deficiencies noted and reported
Be knowledgeable of or willing to learn basic food safety / sanitation requirements and accurately maintain sanitation documentation
Follow all safety & hygiene regulations as required by the company.
Assist Miller in directing flour production from an operational point of view.
Work collaboratively with team members across shifts
Support roll changes, alignments, and adjustments to maintain milling efficiency.
Transport rolls, tools, and parts safely using appropriate lifting techniques or equipment.
Maintain a clean and organized roll storage area.
Gain knowledge of Mill Operator duties in order to help in the wheat / oat cleaning house if needed.
Must be able to advance to all Mill Operating positions
Attention to detail, strong work ethic, and the ability to follow standard operating procedures.
Above all you will be expected to carry out all your activities with reliability, integrity, compliance and in a safe, environmentally responsible, and efficient manner.
Essential skills and experience:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous experience in a food manufacturing or milling environment is a plus
Mechanical skills an asset to this position
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Physical requirements and working conditions (with or without reasonable accommodation):
Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Ability to lift and move heavy rolls (30+kgs) and perform repetitive physical tasks.
Flour dust environment with exposure to mechanical equipment and elevated noise.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
Team members must be clean shaven in order to perform tasks where respiratory protection is required and the use of a respirator (including N-95 dust mask) requires a proper seal for adequate protection.
